[ARCHIVED] Message From the Mayor - 07/11/24 Update

07/10/24- Message from the mayor

UPDATE: 07/11/24

Please be aware that Centerpoint crews are currently on site and they will be shutting off power within the next hour. It is recommended that citizens power down computers, air conditioning systems, and any other electronics to prevent potential damage from power surges.

The work will commence at Hawthorne and Clear Lake Rd. We advise everyone to avoid this area. Clear Lake Rd will be closed from Grove to Ivy for the duration of the repair. Please plan to use an alternate route for north and southbound travel. Additionally, the east end of Hawthorne will be blocked off, while East Shore will remain open.

We anticipate that power will be restored by 8pm tonight in this area. Following this, crews will continue to assess and address any other issues around the island. It is possible that they will need to return tomorrow to complete work on the rest of the island.

The Centerpoint supervisor on site has assured us that they will thoroughly inspect every circuit and line on the island before completing their work.

We appreciate your patience as we continue with our Hurricane Recovery Efforts. Thank you.
